The AIDS Memorial Quilt is a powerful reminder of the AIDS pandemic and a memorial for those who have died of AIDS. Pictured is only a small block of the full AIDS Memorial Quilt. The full quilt weighs nearly 54 tons and is composed of more than 48,000 individual memorial panels.
World AIDS Day is held on December 1 each year. It is an opportunity for people worldwide to:
- unite in the fight against HIV
- show their support for people living with HIV
- commemorate people who have died
The quilt is currently on display in Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak on the second floor of the south entrance.
