Last week, two rappers – Lil Wayne and Tone Loc, were both rushed to hospitals for suspected seizures. While the cause for each seizure is still unclear and under scrutiny, underlying conditions like history of prior head trauma or family history of epilepsy can predispose individuals to seizures.

Any seizure, no matter the severity, should be taken seriously. With Lil Wayne, a history of seizures is also a cause for concern. Evidence of epileptic seizures can be keys to a number of neuro diagnoses like brain tumor or arteriovenous malformation (an abnormal connection between arteries and veins in the brain).

A seizure is an electrical disturbance in which the neurons start firing abnormally and synchronously.  Seizures can occur in various setting such as in individuals with genetic predisposition, in association with strokes or tumors, alcohol withdrawal or drug intoxication.

  1. Chris says:

There is talk that Lil Wayne is always drinking cough syrup or Robo is what they call that trip. I think it has something to do with his health issues. Those trips can’t be good for you and may be causing his health issues now. He is a good rapper too so he should obviously stop using the drugs and hopefully things get better for him. People commonly ask him “Hey Wayne, whats in your white cup all the time?” and he always replies “dont you worry what is in my white cup!”
