  • 16 billion jelly beans are made for Easter each year
  • each day five million marshmallow chicks and bunnies are produced in preparation for this holiday
  • Easter is the second top-selling confectionery holiday behind only Halloween

If reading those stats sparked your sweet tooth you’re probably not alone. However, if you’re looking for ways to avoid the sugar rush that is associated with Easter for your kids, here are some other ideas and healthy options for filling your child’s Easter basket:

  • bathing suits, beach toys, a new pair of goggles, flip-flops, sunglasses
  • bubbles, sidewalk chalk, jump rope
  • Play-Doh, coloring books, crayons, markers
  • books, DVDs, iTunes cards
  • hair accessories for girls, Matchbox cars for boys
  • small Lego sets
  • fruit Leather, popcorn
  • for your Easter egg hunt, instead of filling plastic eggs with candy, fill them with pennies for the piggy bank

Getting creative and thinking of your child’s personal interests will help in creating a basket that is sure to make them smile. Happy Easter!
