At age 7, Kyle was like any normal kid. He enjoyed playing with his siblings and playing sports, specifically hockey. What started as a routine sports physical turned out to be a lifesaving appointment. Kyle’s doctor noticed an abnormality and immediately referred him to Beaumont Children’s Hospital for further tests.

A biopsy confirmed Kyle’s parents’ greatest fears – Kyle was diagnosed with Large B-cell Lymphoma, a form of cancer rarely found in children and more commonly known as non-Hodgkin Lymphoma among adults.

On January 3, 2011 Kyle started chemotherapy treatments at Beaumont Children’s Hospital with a determined spirit to beat this disease and return to being a kid again. Kyle had five rounds of chemotherapy throughout 4 months at Beaumont.

As of April 15, 2011 Kyle is cancer free! Kyle’s parents feel that it was such a blessing that the cancer was found so early since it was only by chance that it was diagnosed. Kyle is currently growing his hair out to donate to other kids diagnosed with cancer.

Kyle was recently named Beaumont’s Speedway Champion! Visit Speedway’s Facebook page and vote for Kyle in the “Battle of the Brave” and the hospital with the most votes at the end of the month will win a $25,000 donation on behalf of Speedway!
